Chocobos should be kept in Poke balls

Sooooo I’m just getting around to exploring a great deal of the content for Wings of the Goddess (is that sad or what?).  I had previously done the awesomely annoying trek to Sandoria[S], but after my account was rolled back a year due to being hacked, I lost all those many hours figuring out how to get through Jugner and thus I spent this weekend retracing myself back to Sandy. I am once again joining the campaign mission with Sandoria and I’ve started the storyline missions there.

I think my largest qualm about the past is our horrid inability to summon our chocobos. I know, I know it’d make no sense that I could summon RisingSun 15 years into the past, but the way I see it I store my chocobo in my back pocket in a ball Pokemon style so I should have every right to summon my chicken to ride her around in the past.

I got overly excited by finding the Telepoint for Recall-Meriph when I saw the chocobo vendor. I was like, “YES, CHOCOBO! SCORE!” and then I talked to the NPC and realized you need these “allied notes” and /angry emoted her. D:< Ughhh, so I was doomed back to walking. I’m just happy I’m a mage and I can teleport, warp, and recall myself if I get lazy. After looking it up on wiki I’ve come to find these allied notes are the reward of Campaign, so fuxxor, I guess I’ll have to do some of those eventually.

And no, I’m still not seriously playing XI. I really don’t have the time anymore nor the inclination to deal with horrible EXP parties and camping Fafhog for hours, so I’m not seriously contributing anything to my HNM LS. Regardless, running around having Sprites Cure IV me is still sweet and nostalgic, so I continue to log in regardless.

Also, my moogle fails me. My gardening results this month have been buttholes. I Damn you Teddy Rosevelt (the name of my moogle)! WHERE BE MY ORES?!

Final Fantasy XIV

Woo-hoo! Unless you’ve been living under a rock and haven’t heard this year’s E3 news, Final Fantasy XIV: Online is slated for release in 2010 (read: 2011 cause we know Square-Enix never releases anything on schedule).

I can’t help but feel a tad disappointed in the fact that this is basically an upgraded FF11 experience. I also abhor the fact that Square releases its Final Fantasy Online games in numerical sequence with the non-MMO variety. I think they should’ve stuck with the name Rapture or at least given it the name “Final Fantasy: Rapture” or something along those lines, but alas I digress!

I feel a renewed vigor to continue playing the game once the newer version comes out. My only qualm is that sadly I will be a full-time employee in the real world by then so who knows how much free time I’ll have to offer. I remember starting FF11 as a high school student when I was 15. Now, at 22, my free time is a lot less plentiful and the reality of the real world awaits.

Regardless, I hope to see all you guys on FF14 when it does come out. :) *excited*

In-game, I’ve been doing veryyy little. I’ve repurchased a bunch of gear that I’ve been needing in addition to getting around to finally uncursing my Zenith Pumps. I had the Aquarian Aburjuation: Feet for about two years now sitting in my mog, but I didn’t see a point to uncursing them since there are better foot pieces for BLM and RDM. My WHM isn’t high enough level to utilize Zenith Pumps, so honestly it was a waste of 700k. For those who don’t know, I’ve had someone attempt to craft me Zenith pumps twice resulting in {Full Break} BOTH TIMES (curse my luck). This time I went with the safe route and bought them off the AH. At least they look snazzy.

Else I’ve been running around figuring out how to continue soloing BLM. I apparently left my BLM off at LV65, so too high now to level off of Goblin’s Rarab in Bibiki Bay. I decided to forgo the hell-maze that is Movolpolis and move on to the Qiquirns in Adeewa Subteranne (spelling on all these places/mobs is my best guess).  The archers are indeed stupid and suffer horribly from RNG nerf so soloing them isn’t bad, if a little slow since I’m probably a level or two under what I should be. I’m making good use of this year’s Anniversary Ring.

Smashed Zenith and Subjob leveling

So I had Asaka attempt my Zenith Pumps yesterday and ended up with a full break. ; ; Lol, just my luck! Oh well! There’s always next time!

Besides that, I’ve decided I’m going to take DRK to LV37 before anything else leveling wise. I got it to level 16 tonight in the Dunes (the horrors) thanks to Kayile and Malekai power leveling my poor party for a while tonight. Level 37 should be no problem at all with the EXP boosting items as well as the easier time people have leveling recently. I just feel totally inadequate as a melee job.

After finishing DRK, I’m probably going to complete leveling WHM to 75 since it’s been sitting at 62 for forever. After that, I’m leaning towards starting my first official melee job, SAM! ^_^

That is, if I have the time. I started my summer job to save up for college this week and haven’t had time for camps, farming, or LS events in general and I feel really bad about that. ; ; I’m going to try to make Friday Dynamis runs with higher frequency and attempt to get Tuesday work days swapped to Weds so I can go on Dynamis city runs with the LS and help out our members going for final stage relic weapons.

Alchemy, glitches, ENM

Long time since last update. Been busy primarily with real-life things which you can read about in my other livejournal, coro_net. Besides that, been bumming around, doing nothing much besides crafting in XI. Trying to get to 100 alchemy as soon as possible, but it’s been sooo slow. Not only have Philosopher’s Stones been boosted to 100,000G a piece, but they are also extremely rare. ; ; I’m lucky if I can get 2-3 stones per day and the chance of me skilling up is still excruciatingly slow. Currently at 96.6+2. Working as hard as I can.


Had a few weird alchemy experiences. Managed to HQ Panacea twice, which was so awesome I just had to screenshot it. :3 Now if this could only happen with Hawkers Knives!


Had another weird glitch a few days back where I logged in to find my subjob removed. @_@; I noticed it when I tried to warp myself and was unsuccessful, noticed my MP was weirdly low, then checked my status bar. Was kind of cool, actually.


This made me extremely proud. :3 My highest magic burst on my RDM. Ever. :D


And Shandi wins the random quote of the day award.


And Xen wins the nice award for talking about the Wise gear JSE for RDM. -.- jerkkk!

Did some of the new dumb Al’Taieu missions since Square did such a poor job of releasing new areas. No new HNMs, one event based NM, and a lot of repetition and retardation to get to the gardens of ru’humet, which, btw, look EXACTLY like the shrine itself. Yayay for bad programming! Random note, for some reason this entire region gives the feel of Chronopolis from Chrono Cross. The ways the Quasis talk, the emptyness of the castle, etc. Idk, maybe it’s just me.

Leveling WHM

Leveling WHM recently, not much else to do honestly. Currently I’m at LV56 and close to 57, which is pretty awesome. I can’t wait to get to 58 so I can wear my Vermilion (I’m such a lazy butt XD). Aiming for reaching LV75 within two months, so hopefully I’ll get a range of good parties.

Attempted the notorious subligar (panties, whatever) farming again a few days back. A great deal of the people didn’t have Sacrarium open so we were forced to do the LV40 Phomiuna Aquaducts, which I hate with a passion. A lot of jobs aren’t very well geared at that level in addition to lots of death. And yes, we experienced full wipes numerous times, though the subligar drop rate was high. No RDM subligar though, the RDMs were the types of Formors that traveled in groups making taking them out nearly impossible after one of our NIN tanks went to sleep.

Getting close to Alchemy 93. I’m getting really tired of Icarus Wings at the moment.. There are approx. 3-4 other alchemists skilling up on those with me and some Alchemists (Not naming specific people) really are tards and undercut by like 3-4k per wing just to get their stuff to sell fast, which is ridiculous considering the Icarus Wings sell OVERNIGHT. Therefore, they control the market making a break even synth cost quite a considerable amount. It’s a tad annoying.

Real-life, today was my 18th birthday. :) Finally legal and I can honestly say it feels very odd. If anything, it’s just a reminder that I need to decide on which college offer to accept and get ready for my move back to the United States. Meh. Time really flies the older you get; that is no lie.

Dream gear

So my dream has finally come true and I can craft crimson gear now. :) I crafted two cursed crimson leggings yesterday hoping for skillup or *gasp* HQ. Since I’m 91+1 atm, it’s nearly 100% safe (save for the random factor of breakage) to make crimson legs which cap at 92. If I HQ, I will squeal and totally die, but I’d keep them for 100% sure for myself. :3 Attempted a Hawker’s Knife+1 today. NQ only, which is ok making it about a 40k loss. No matter, I’ll try again later.

I plan to use Crimson synths as my way to skillup since each Crimson synth are within 1 level of each other going legs > hands > feet > face > body I believe. Therefore, I can theoretically skillup by crafting these which (based on current AH costs) will break even. It’ll be slow, mind you, and there WILL be failures thrown in here and there, but it should not be too bad honestly. Since there is a chance of +1 (rare, but it does happen proven by me making 2 +1 mamushitos last night while skilling up) I can even stand to make some gil. If items for cursed aren’t readily available, I will skill up on the ever popular Icarus Wings.

Been thinking about end-game gear for RDM now too. I have a lot of the gear I want, but here is my “wishlist”. ^^ Hopefully by the time I quit the game, I will have all of this, but if not, hey, I’m allowed to dream.

  • Full Blood gear (I will craft each and every piece on my own! Mwahaha!)
  • Full Zenith gear
  • Full RDM AF2 (Honestly this one’s probably gonna be the hardest)
  • All elemental staffs +1 and hopefully signed. :)
  • To own the first +1 Snow rings on the server.

Fun goals. :D Working on the Crimson +1s right now. Hopefully the game will be kind.

New updates

New updates looking good. :O A few of ED finally made it to Al’Taieu this afternoon. I can’t wait! We finished Ultima & Omega tonight, setting the rest aside for tomorrow.

The new alchemy key item looks interesting. I’ll have to go check the GP item for it to see what I can do with it. :D

Spent my first ever merit point on the new “Convert timer down 20 seconds”. :O These new updates for merits were nice!

Still wondering where Raise3 is acquired at. New BCs perhaps?

Alchemy Grind

Alchemy 76.5ish right now. Still grinding towards 90+. I am so crazily anxious to craft my own crimson right now. x_x I don’t want to attempt the pants or hands till 92, but eh, the temptation is there.

I think I’m going to level up woodworking to 25ish. I’m not in the mood to repair those fishing rods, so I think I might do the sairu-ran (spelling?) fireworks instead since those tend to sell a bit faster and are way less expensive since I’m pretty sure I can HQ the heck out of the synthesis items. Fireworks, anyone?
